Shoes of Resilience

Inspired by the Arab proverb, "If you want to know someone's story, look at their shoes," this picture book introduces seven Palestinian characters who bring their worn shoes to an ‘Iskaf (cobbler/shoemaker) for repair—and in doing so, have their stories preserved forever.

Born from an intentional collaboration between an artist in Gaza and a writer in California, “Shoes of Resilience” is both a testament to survival and a celebration of the remarkable individuals who sustain Palestinian life and culture amid devastation.
